In uSkinned 6+ and Umbraco 17, you never have to waste time rebuilding the same beautiful section twice. The Clipboard feature allows you to Copy a fully designed Block Component—including its images, text, and settings—and Paste it anywhere else on your website in seconds.
Step-by-Step: Copying and Pasting Components
-
Open the Visual Editor: Log in to your Umbraco Backoffice and open the page that has the content you want to copy.
-
Copy the Component: Hover over the Component (the block or section) you like. Click the three dots (···) to open the actions menu and select Copy. The block is now saved to your digital clipboard.
-
Go to Your Destination: Navigate to the new page (or a different spot on the same page) where you want the content to appear.
-
Paste from Clipboard: Click the [ + ] sign (the Block Catalogue) at the location where you want to add the content. You will see an option to "Paste from Clipboard".
-
Finalize: The component will appear instantly with all your original design and text intact. Click the green Save and Publish button to make it live.
Pro-Tips for Beginners
-
Cross-Page Pasting: The Clipboard is powerful enough to remember what you copied even if you move to a completely different page in the site tree.
-
Reusable Components: If you find yourself pasting the same block over and over (like a "Join Our Newsletter" box), consider saving it as a Reusable Component instead. This allows you to update the content in one place and have it change everywhere on the site automatically.
-
Copying Entire Layouts: If you want to copy an entire page's design rather than just one block, use the Page Template or Clone Content feature when creating a new page to save even more time.
